New Friendster Not Exactly New

December 4, 2009 by Mr. SpabblesNo Comments

It has been almost a thousand years ago (pardon my exaggeration) when Friendster proudly ruled the social networking community. At the moment, it’s clear that many have dumped Friendster aside and welcomed Facebook to their life.

But hey, have you noticed that Friendster has recently changed their outlook!

Remember this logo…?

It has been replaced with this, their Version 2 logo!

new facebook green logo

Yeah, green-colored with a smiley at the end. Definitely looks more unprofessional than before.

The main log in page has a new appearance, obviously.

And once you logged in, you’ll feel that the so-called new interface kinda resembles Facebook’s home page.

Right at the top, there’s a shoutout bar. Its function is pretty self-explanatory – you bitch about your life in that white box.

Then there is an Activity Stream, similar to Facebook’s Live Feed – just that it’s not life

An area where you’ll see latest happenings around your Friendster world. If you ask my opinion, I think Facebook’s one is neater and well-presented.

Another Facebook-grabbed feature is the photo commenting on the Activity Stream.

Comments of a particular photo will be shown there too.

The next new feature is kinda useless, it allows you to change your Friendster’s header color.

Only 3 colors available though – the default Green, Blue and Purple.

So you like Green, Blue or Purple? Oh wait, where’s black? No?

Besides that, I’m not sure whether this feature is new in the New Friendster or not, but I’ve never seen the Friendster Wallet before, until now.

You can now get coins and chips on Friendster and waste your money. Sounds like an online casino to me. Anyway, it’s probably another feature grabbed from Facebook as Facebook allows its users to buy virtual gifts on its site.

Okay, other than all the mentioned features, nothing really changed. Just a new look for the log in and home page, and the user profile page hasn’t changed much – still with the same layout, crappy comment wall and stuffs.

After browsing through the “new” Friendster, I think the new features implemented is this 2nd Version of Friendster is simply not significant enough to emphasis the word “NEW”.

Feedback to admin: This version doesn’t seem that “new” to me. It’s just the look, that’s all. When will the newer Version 3 be out? =? *imitates Friendster smiley*
